2 comments on that:
1) conversion of existing systems is not always possible with iso
image, as the very reason for converting an existing system may be that
there is no iso. Example is me installing on an Alpha box; I installed
a gentoo first, then compiled sourcemage...
2) I tried converting another box with an old SuSE system (7.x or 8.x).
The bash there may have been 2.x, but the mission was already
impossible because of the other toolchain parts being too hopelessly
old for a direct upgrade.
Upgrading bash would have been the easies part there...
