- Subject: [SM-Discuss] kernel version setting var name
- Date: Thu, 2 Nov 2006 13:41:21 +0200
I'm in the process of writing new and enhanced get_kernel_* functions for the
grimoires (for querying kernel version and configure info in a spell) [0].
The code has already passed my initial tests. Once it's stable and in
FUNCTIONS (and the relevant spells have been edited accordingly), users can
specify in a variable the kernel version that they want to cast spells
against.
Initially I thought the variable would be called OVERRIDE_KERNEL_VERSION, but
that might be a bit too long. There are other suggestions also:
MY_KERNEL_VERSION
MY_UNAME_R
USE_KERNEL_VERSION
SET_KERNEL_VERSION
I'd like for the community to decide on this. Please tell me your favorites
and also give new suggestions if you want to. (My personal opinion is that
the _KERNEL_VERSION suffix should stay, I'd like the var name as descriptive
as possible. But feel free to disagree.)
Thanks.
