Craig,

I've had the same issue. It basically boils down to the ATI drivers wanting an older Xorg.

To get Xorg up and running I had to remove 6.9.0 and install 6.8.1 version. 6.8.2 gave me the same error.

Regards Andrew

Okay ... bitch over

I have Xorg (6.9.0) installed under the devel sorcery and test grimoire.
I also have ati_driver installed and have tried both the one currently in z-rejected (8.27.10)
and the latest from Ati web site (8.28.8)

Unfortunately my X server never starts and the log file tells me I ma using the wrong version
of xorg:

Xorg.0.log (snippet)

(II) LoadModule: "fglrx"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.o
(II) Module fglrx: vendor="FireGL - ATI Technologies Inc."
compiled for 6.8.0, module version = 8.28.8
Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.7
[R200Setup] X version mismatch - detected X.org 7.0.0.0, required X.org 6.8.0.0
(II) UnloadModule: "fglrx"
(II) Unloading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.o
(EE) Failed to load module "fglrx" (module requirement mismatch, 0)

Can someone tell me why it thinks I am on version 7.0.0 and how do I either correct this or
get an Ati version that will work?

Craig
