which grimoire are we talking about?
all udev spells should install udev.conf...

true, the udev spell in devel p4 uses a new sorcery function to install the
config files. the function was kindly provided by the sorcery team to save the
grimoire team from duplicating ~100 lines of code for every config file which
needs to be installed ;)
last time i checked it was in devel and test sorcery. (also a while ago,
sorry.)

the spell has been edited a while ago to test if the function is available and
exit if it doesn't.
both the previous version and the version i 'fixed' do install a udev.conf
file.
the only thing which could prevent that is either an older version from devel
grimoire or if sorcery/cast was killed while installing.
while talking about udev.conf, instead of installing a completely new
udev.conf
as the spell does now. we could sedit the relatively small change to it into
the udev.conf the user has now. I don't suppose many people edit their
udev.conf as it only contains the basic settings. I chose to replace it
altogether to assure there's at least a working udev configuration available
but that might not have been the most elegant way to do this.
Flavien, it's your call ;)
Either way, I won't have time to look into this myself any time soon.
(but will keep an eye on you guys, as you might have noticed)
Happy hacking guys :)
