Well, people who wanted to build from source had this problem for quite some time and understood the reason. Now that Sun's talking of open-sourcing Java maybe we'll have a better luck.

In regards to all Java spells, Blackdown's Java SDK uses libstdc++.so.5 and GCC 3.4.0 has so.6. I used Sun's SDK 1.4.2_04 (have a patch and waiting to submit) that doesn't depends on libstdc++ at all and ant, antlr are OK now. Also, gst-plugins, evolution-data-server, libmng, gnome-media2 build OK in devel grimoire for me.


Same here about the j2sdk, got a spell for Sun's too, but the problem is
that there's no direct download link for that, so people have to
download it by hand and put it in /var/spool/sorcery. (And sun's great
license doesn't allow us to mirror it to make it direct downloadable by
the spell ...)
