Hamish, don't ascribe to malice that which may adequately be explained by
error, inexperience or lack of time.

Everyone's doing their best. Not everyone's as capable as you are and some
people are intimidated by a forthright communication style so you might want
to cut people a little slack and try a more conciliatory tone.

I too support a vote, but I don't think this meeting is necessarily the right
place to do it. Other candidates may need some time to consider whether or
not they wish to stand, and others may wish to consider their vote for a
time.

Could I suggest that we allow Eric's chosen successor assume the mantle of
project lead on a provisional basis until a vote can be organised - say
within two weeks.
