Going completely from memory here...
xfree86: complete release version of the X desktop from XFree86.org
xfree86-devel: same as above, but devel version (may be from CVS?)
xfree86-libs: subset of xfree86, used so apps that need the XFree86
libraries can be compiled without having to download and install the complete
X desktop.
If you're looking for what's traditionally meant by XFree86 (ie: the X
windows desktop environment), then you'll likely just want to "cast xfree86"
and let sorcery do its magic. :)
