just to clarify, after everything went to sleep fro at least ten minutes, I
killed the "sorcery upgrade".
Checking showed that openjade was no longer present, so I then did:
#cast -c OpenSP
#cast openjade

and it was fine.

I wondered whether the OpenSP spell should check for one of its files as
having been installed by openjade, and if so dispell openjade before casting
OpenSP.

Something like
if [ -x /usr/bin/onsgmls ] ;then
if [ 'gaze from /usr/bin/onsgmls ' = openjade] ;then
dispel openjade
cast OpenSP
cast openjade
fi
fi
