Use a CD-sized box, envelopes bend. ;) Hopefully he knows that
source-based distros eat up a lot of bandwidthed....maybe send him a CD
(or two) with /var/spool/sorcery containing most of the basic apps
(xfree86, gnome*, kde*, etc.) and include instructions to copy the CD(s)
to /var/spool/sorcery to save time.

There are 3 grimoire versions, but for some, there are multiple
locations from which they are available. There are two braches of
sorcery, devel and stable. You can mix and match sorcery and grimoire
versions.
Perforce (like CVS) is used to hold all the development stuff and the
tarballs get pulled from it.
