I suspect it was because there was still a mount point /usr/src/xc, with a lot of data.
In the past, my mount script unmounted all the tmpfs entries before doing anything else. I'm not sure what it does now.
Eventually I pressed the restart button. Ext3 journalling saved me.
it's still supposed to unmount the tmpfs that it knows about. Sorcery is supposed to umount the things it's mounting too, but I have noticed in the last couple of days when it fails to build, it leaves the directories mounted. Thought that had been addressed, actually.
