I don't know if there's a bug or not, but there's not much that can be
done about it. I have found no way to tell who has permission to display
thing is the current session, and who has permission to run xhost for the
current session. If I can find a way of doing that then the problem can be
fixed properly. If I can't, then the only other solution I can think of is
to start another X session.
In either case, I'd prefer to find a way of disabeling the GUI install
process entirely so that the install can be automated properly.
