I, for one, said I will. As soon as I get back to my system and
move it from Slackware to Sorcery. That will unfortunately wait a
couple of weeks as I'm on holiday for the moment.

It's awfully sad that you read my comments on XFS that way. It's a
tested filesystem, it's just not necessarily the most robust
filesystem. Since I 'trashed' that file (which was fine, because it
was a shell script of 3 lines that I was writing), I haven't had
anything go wrong. This is mostly because I shutdown my system
properly.
What is, perhaps, most stinging about this letter is your usage of
the word "thinks". I've been more about benchmarks and data points
than anyone else on this list to this point. I'm the only who quotes
them, for instance. I use XFS, not because I _think_ it's fast. I use
it because I know it's fast. I have the benchmarks to prove it too.
It's alright if I lose a file because my machine suddenly &
spontaneously hiccoughs...I keep backups for that reason. Of course,
none of my users would ever know it...I've never had to restore
anything.
I will post the benchmarks when I get the opportunity. I still put
forth a call for a good reason to use tmpfs. I fail to see anything to
offset its poor showing over the majority of data points on this list.
