I think you misunderstood my comment. My comments are not about who is
providing the rules, but about whether they can still be chosen.
Previously, there was a choice about whether they were installed (by
us). Now I'm asking if there is still a choice about whether they are
installed (by udev). Is there a configure option to udev for it to NOT
install the "persistent" rules? If so, then rather than the code in
question being deleted, it should be adjusted, as we would still want to
keep the choice for users who might not want those rules.
