IMHO it is a good idea to add STABLE and DEVELOPMENT versions.
Users with 2.6.22 can not cast alsa-driver.
Of course they can use alsa from kernel but alsa-driver is newer and
support more/new soundcards.

We were discussing this several times. Development version has nothing
with test grimoire.
Users may want to use stable grimoire with development version of alsa.

The same problem is with GNOME. There are users who would like to cast
new devel GNOME but can not because we support only stable version.
Developers are afraid to update stable gnome to latest rc version
because another developers prefer only stable gnome.
Why not to add STABLE/DEVEL versions and we all and all our users will
be happy.
Of course we support only STABLE. It may be better to name it DEFAULT
version because actually we can support latest beta version.

I would appreciate some scripts to easy change from stable version to
beta/rc (and vice versa) of several spells (group of spells like GNOME,
ALSA, ...) at the same time.
Something like "cast GNOME devel" & "cast GNOME default" and all spell
from GNOME group would recast (without tens of question which version
default/devel do you want?).

I remember that we had "kde" grimoire with special versions according
some standard. It is another approach.
To have additional grimoires.

Just dreaming. :-)
