Regarding immigration reform a friend emailed me today with this
:
"BTW I just lost a good friend to the process (deportation). Isidro has
been in this country for the past 20 years, has raised a family here and is
(was) an upstanding part of the community. All four of his kids were born
here.

2-1/2 months ago they caught him and sent him to a detention center in
Georgia. Now he's back in Mexico, with no way of supporting his family. I
think his oldest son has just dropped out of high school so he can find
work. And Isidro would have been the perfect candidate for the president's
program: a clean record, long-time resident, supporting four kids born
here, etc."
