You to can vortex for about $150. Yes this machine is based of of Steve
Storch's design, and yes I only have empirical data, but from my
observations with the right inputs this machine rocks. I put these
measurements together to maybe ease someone else s building of the
machine. The most expensive part is the air pump.
Use 1 1/2" schedule 40 PVC about 10'
1- 5 gal water jug (no handle)
1- 4 way cross
1- 1 1/2" Rubber coupling
8- 90 deg pass through elbows
4- 45 deg elbows
3- clean out end caps
1- ball valve
4- caps for top ( haven't perfected yet)
1- 100l/min air pump (i use sunleaves 550 it is a 75 l/min pump i feel
it works
great, maybe wish I got the bigger one don't know if it would create a
better
vortex. The one now goes to the bottom quite nicely.
Tools:
1- 1 7/8" hole saw
1- 2 1/4" hole saw
silicon sealant
PVC glue
Cut measurements:
4- 17" (lift)
3- 2" (end cap connector)
1- 3" (ball valve connector)
1- 1 1/2" (cross Insert)
4- 6 3/8" (bottom Cross)
4- 2" (45 deg Connectors)

That web site has pictures as well as a quick Q and A with Stephen
Storch (the guy behind the commercial vortex brewer). If you have any questions on set up let me know i will try and help. It is a great design, i like the final product.
Thank you Steve for the knowledge and the great design.
