"I am trying to link Masanobu Fukuoka ( The One Straw Revolution author who
was expounding no dig methods in the 1930 s) to Sewell Cooper (UK), Esther
Deans (Australia, where I am typing from!) and Ruth Stout (US). They all
seemed to gain an interest in this area in the following 20 years so I
suspect they read his work but am unable to find a link, or that of earlier
entrepreneurs, though we all know history repeats itself. "

Emelia's design for a raised bed is nearly as good as it can get.

There is a collection, parts 1-3 for EH's raised bed method of
gardening; shows how they are built.

Breaking new ground: UC Santa Cruz celebrates sustainable innovation in
farming, food systems
authors
Hazel White
publication information
California Agriculture 61(4):152-155. DOI: 10.3733/ca.v061n04p152.
October-December 2007.
In 1967, a charismatic English gardener also an accomplished
Shakespearean actor, painter, violinist and athlete journeyed to
California to establish an organic garden. On a steep hillside at UC
Santa Cruz, Alan Chadwick broke ground for a student garden designed to
demonstrate the biodynamic methods he had learned from his childhood
tutor, Rudolf Steiner. Although he left after 5 years to establish
similar projects elsewhere, Chadwick's innovative project took root.
Today more than 1,200 graduates of the UC Santa Cruz farm and Garden
apprenticeship program are often credited with pioneering what is now
the mainstream, fast-growing organic food movement.
