Bill Evans responded to my request for freely available info sources
documenting the role minerals play in plant growth and crop nutrition:
Molybedenum comes to mind. Just a trace is needed, so I have read and
heard. I believe it's needed by an enzyme involved w/ nodulation.
No moly- no nodules. Other things are needed, to be sure, but w/o this key
trace element, you'll get didly....
I must give credit to Dr Rateaver for telling me this , years ago
Ah yes, Bargyla. Did you know her personally? (She lived in San
Diego, just south of you). I met her personally once in Escondido
(just north of you of course) in 1968, I believe.
In addition, some non legumes can fix N through some sort of symbiosis w/
the soil. Alder is mentioned in the first link.

Thank you, Bill.
For biologically based agriculture to become the norm (which it
must, in order for agriculture to become truly sustainable and
provide am ample supply of nutritious food for the population),
freely accessible Data Bases are needed to provide information
clearly explaining the molecular events that comprise plant
metabolism and clearly justify making the change.
These data bases may or may not already exist in an organized,
logical form. For starters, I'm going to check out the following:

Other valuable sources of methodically compiled data sources that
provide detailed documentation regarding the molecular events which
comprise plant metabolism in relation to nutritional content production,
pest and disease resistance and interactions con soil microorganisms
undoubtedly exist. Any urls pinpointing their existence would
obviously help achieve this worthy goal and be greatly appreciated
by one and all.
