What do we do when it gets cold outside? What do we do when it's dark out
and
there's stars in the sky on a super clear night with a romantic moon? Most of
us
go indoors and turn the computer and waste the night time just to miss the
dark
eyes of a raccoon or the hoot of and owl calling his mate. Well there's a
workshop to light up the cold night, by teaching you how to build or
create summer heat and sunshine from summer twigs. We all will learn the
basics
and maybe invent some. Why a rocket stove? Come and find out.

Fee: $20

Compendium of Useful Information

"Access to 2 gigabytes of information about sustainable and
resilient living that meets the challenges of peak energy, climate
instability, economic irrationality, toxic politics, war and violence."

Compendium of useful information - version 1.0, september 3, 2010
<http://www.energyconservationinfo.org/compendium.htm>. The page
reminds a lot of the 13 gigabyte database set up by Alex Weir
(previously: How to make everything yourself - online low-tech
resources
<http://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2009/10/how-to-make-everything-yourself-online-lowtech-resources.html>),

and from a quick overview I learn that many of the same sources are
listed. However, the list is better organised and also seems to
contain quite a few DIY-resources which I did not see before. Related:
the recent launches of the Green Wizard Forums
<http://www.notechmagazine.com/2010/09/green-wizards.html> and the
UNESCO Traditional Knowledge Base
<http://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2010/07/unesco-sets-up-international-traditional-knowledge-database.html>.
