I found the Ifugao link at permies.com permaculture ---> permaculture forum, a thread on Asian rice terrace construction and maintenance.
New frontiers. New worlds to conquer.
People often use floating garden islands & chinampas but these aquatic gardening mounds sound just like HuegelKulture but in a wet environment as opposed to a properly drained aerobic environment.
With careful planning and implementation this method should work in fatland gardening.
