"On the strength of the ability of duckweed to process raw waste,"
there is some text missing that follows, which is, "lagoons with established duckweed could receive, daily, measured amounts of raw waste (i.e. sewage) to extract nutrients from, biodegrade and leave clean water behind which could be fed into the further reaches of the constructed wetland.
Also for cold weather functionality, effluent, maybe even blackwater, could be dispersed through vast shallow piles of finished compost
on grade and on a slight slope. These piles would be covered with 3-6 feet of biomass in varying stages of decomposition; mowings (rather: scythings), trimmings and cut branches (perhaps a Hugelculture type system) This biomass would provide insulation from the cold allowing the microbes in the bottom layer of active compost to purify the effluent.
