I seem to have flies all around my cherry tree (I live in SC), and they seem
to be laying eggs. I tried to force one off with a heavy stream of water
and it clung to the branch like glue.
The leaves around which they're concentrating are all dried up and lacey,
like their larvae have completely eaten out all the green material between
the veins.
Does anyone know how I can save this tree? It was transplanted into my
garden in March and seemed to be doing really well until I noticed the brown
leaf clusters and the hovering flies this morning.
They weren't there last week when I watered and fed the tree (fish
emulsion).
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Carolyn
