About the Lead Facilitator
Lead facilitator Alex Kruger has 15 years of experience in practicing and teaching Permaculture which began with training at Fambidzanai of Zimbabwe in 1993. Her experience base ranges from small scale
community based work to large scale systems in a number of diverse of bioregions and climates. Training and materials development are her passion, as well as creating beautiful systems with groups of people.
Alex lives in an intentional community, Berg en Dal, in the Klein Karoo, South Africa, where she currently spends her time teaching Permaculture and building her home from natural materials found on the farm.

Assistant Facilitators
Nature's Gift Permaculture trainers Hope Thornton and Mada Siebert both completed Permaculture Design Courses with Alex in the Klein Karoo. They have worked together with trainers Eston Mgala, Sam Baluti and all of the staff at Nature's Gift Permaculture to build the centre from the ground up.

Both Eston and Sam completed PDCs last year with Rosemary Morrow. All four have also completed a Training of Training Course with Rosemary. Together they volunteered with other Malawi Permies to host the International Permaculture Convergence, which took place on Nature's Gift Farm.

About Nature's Gift Permaculture
Nature's Gift Permaculture is a training and demonstration facility on a 20 hectare plot situated near the capital city of Lilongwe on Nature's Gift Farm. Here we are developing designs for ecologically harmonious, efficient and productive living systems and future permaculture designers, trainers and extension workers are welcome to learn and practice.

We believe Malawi is rich in both natural and human resources and that self-development with existing resources is possible within the practical mindset of permaculture design. The centre is the first of its kind in

Malawi and will develop over a 5 year period to be economically self- sustainable. It answers the increasing demand for qualified permaculture consultants and trainers as well as appropriate training space. The owners of Nature's Gift Farm are passionate about Malawi's potential to develop sustainably and with existing resources, and have been working towards increasing biodiversity by conserving and promoting a wide variety of indigenous fauna and flora on the farm for the last 12 years.

NGP is operating on an ethical business in model in which we follow the three Permaculture ethics in all aspects of our business. The ethics, Earth Care, People Care and Fair/Surplus Share serve to guide us through the design of our land, interaction with clients and community members and to the payment of our staff and the monitoring of our bottom line.

Permaculture is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems, which have the diversity, stability and the strength of natural ecosystems.
It is the harmonious combination of land and people, supplying their food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way. Without sustainable agriculture there is no possibility of a sustainable human culture.

Permaculture helps us to understand and to create harmonic integrations between nature and people in the most sustainable way. It is appropriate for use in urban or rural locations, as well as for all scales of
projects.

Permaculture introduces traditional practices of natural resource management, integrated with appropriate modern technology. This is a holistic, and environment friendly way of designing and building our human environments, as well as improving living standards.

Permaculture addresses housing, watersupply, health, waste management, farming, energy, aquaculture, rivers, forests, livestock and much more.

Hello All,

I am planning on travelling overland from Australia to the UK in 2011.
My partner is studying at the university in Oxford and I hope to
connect with Permaculture that is going on there.

Does anyone on the list have any connections with Oxfordian
permaculturalists?

Thanks,

Harry
