Herbal pasture is a novel idea I read about in "Micro Eco-Farming" by
Barbara Berst Adams.
The idea is to add bio-diversity to permanent pasture by over-seeding
medicinal herbs into it.
This allows grazing animals to instinctively self-medicate to maintain
health.

Newman Turner, author of "Fertility Pastures", says experimentation has
shown cows milk production increases each time they return to to the herbal
pasture in a
rotation with conventional grass and legume pasture.

In the "Herbal Handbook for Farm and Stable", by Juliette de Bairacli
Levy, the following assortment of herbs is suggested for herbal pasture:
aniseed, balm, borage, chicory, dill, garlic, fennel, fenugreek,
horehound, hyssop, majoram, rosemary, rue, sage, tansy, vervain, wormwood,
yarrow.

Levy indicates herbal pasture is an old, time tested practice in much of
Europe.
Sure gives me food for thought.

BB/ Keith
