Sorry for short notice.
Here is something Canadians can do towards regulating the introduction of
Genetically Modified Organisms into agriculture.
Cheers,
Frances

Dear CVFF Supporters,

Please support Bill C-474 and protect Canada’s farmers and our markets.

Bill C-474 would support Canadian farmers by requiring that “an analysis of
potential harm to export markets be conducted before the sale of any new
genetically engineered seed is permitted.”

It is a Private Members Bill that will be debated in the House of Commons on
March 17, 2010!

This Bill is going to 2nd reading!!!

Take Action Before March 17!

Bill C-474 would stop Monsanto’s GE seeds!

This Bill is a critical opportunity to stop dangerous GE crops. It will also
be the first real debate about the impacts of GE crops on farmers and our
markets.

The government currently only assesses the science of a GE crop and has no
mechanism to address the potential market harm for farmers.

Farmers are at risk when GE crops are commercialized without also being
approved in our major export markets.

Please contact your MP through the CBAN website at the link above. Attached
is CV Friends of Farming’s letter to John Duncan MP for help. You can also
use a sample letter from CBAN. See attachment.
