I recently read a book about earthworms, called "The Earth Moved". There
are suprisingly few professional earthworm researchers, most new species are
identified by amateurs. Worm species are very hard to identify, and it is
possible that no one would know what kind of worms are in Colorado.

I'm in NC too, and red wrigglers have found their way into the deep mulch
under my chicken pen. They are present in the soil here in low numbers, but
there aren't many unless an abundant food source like manure is available.
