No doubt someone near you has a mother to get you started with your own culture. See this link for recipes <http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&=&q=kombucha+recipe&aq=1&oq=kombucha>.
There are kombucha imbibers everywhere. Write your local Craig's list, put a note at the local co-op, etc.
