Hi,
I've grown quiet a bit of velvet beans and have found the following which
might be useful. They a very tolerant of soils with a low pH, fairly drought
tollerant ( this is aided by the fact that they canopy very quickly so
evaporation is minimal). Establishment is best if the seed is covered by
about 2-3cm of soil, they tend to emerge in 4/5 days an then sit fo about 10
days bfore they 'take off'. A word of warning to though, it is a very
vigourous grower/climber and will need to be kept under control so as not to
get out of control in the actual trees themselves.
