Sustainable Aid & Development Facilitation
Aug 13-24, 2007

This 2-part course provides essential skills training for people working or
intending to work with culturally diverse communities, indigenous groups and
overseas development programs. This is an important and growing are of
permaculture work requiring a solid theoretic and practical background to
effectively facilitate sustainable change in areas of need. Graduates from
these courses are undertaking significant work in diverse projects all over
the world.
Prior completion of a PDC is prerequisite for these courses

Part 1
Working with Cultural Diversity
Aug 13-16, 2007 Cost:$355/$305
This course focuses on skills required for working with human and cultural
diversity including diverse ethnic communities, indigenous peoples and
disadvantaged groups. The course covers protocols, appropriate
communications, community development issues, social, cultural and historic
considerations, and basic principles of community facilitation and conflict
resolution.
This course is prerequisite knowledge for Part 2 Sustainable Aid and
Community Development, and addresses the requirements for the APT Cert IV
unit RTD4802A Develop approaches to include cultural and human diversity.

Part 2
Sustainable Aid & Development Facilitation
Aug 20-24, 2007 Cost $475/$415
This course is for people intending to work on overseas projects, especially
in third world situations. It further builds on knowledge and skills from
Part 1 . Topics include health, nutrition and food security, appropriate aid
and technology, community consultation and participatory planning
facilitation, community directed development, project management,
sustainable strategies for humid and arid tropics, and personal security.
This course addresses requirements for the Diploma of Permaculture unit
PIL508A Plan management strategies for overseas development projects.
Course involves discussion, interactive learning, role play, presentations
and case studies

Tropical Crops Practicum Workshop Aug 27-30

Robyn Francis leading international permaculture designer, educator,
presenter and innovator, draws from over 25 years experience in organics,
permaculture practices and community development.

consulted on numerous community and sustainable development projects in
Australia and overseas including India, Malaysia, Bali, Fiji and New
Zealand, working with indigenous and culturally diverse communities.

DJANBUNG GARDENS is a purpose-designed permaculture learnscape and training
centre in subtropical NSW. The passive solar earthbrick centre is set in a
5-acre paradise of working permaculture systems and neighbouring Jarlanbah
eco-hamlet and 2 new ecovillage sites. Just a 10 minute walk from the heart
of Nimbin village, a centre of alternative technology, lifestyle, organics
and intentional community, Djanbung Gardens is the hub of a vibrant
Bioregional Campus network of sustainability in action.
Students have access to the extensive reference library, broadband internet,
& living learning environment.
