In that location you would probably receive quite a lot of
precipitation in the form of condensation on your hedgerow
plants as the moist air moves in off the ocean.
This might allow you to choose plants that are not quite
as drought-tolerant as you may have been considering.
Certainly worth investigating... are there any trees or
shrubs in the area at present that you can observe?
If so, get out there really early in the morning and
see if the leaves are damp and if there is any dripping.
