Permaculture Design Course (PDC)
With Robyn Francis, Janelle Schafer & Peter Hardwick

January 7-20, 2007
Followed by a 3-day intensive Advanced Design Skills Workshop Jan 22-24

This course encompasses the full PDC in one of Australia's leading
permaculture training centres, a living-learning environment where all the
concepts taught are practiced. Classes move seamlessly between the indoor
environment of the passive-solar earthbrick classroom into a 5 acre
learn-scape of established working permaculture systems representing
tropical, subtropical and temperate design.

The Permaculture Design Course (PDC) meets a common international standard
as the minimum foundation training for those intending to teaching
permaculture and/or provide professional design and consulting services.


Skills & Knowledge to be gained
€ integrated approach to working with ecological processes and planetary
life sustaining systems
€ practical design strategies for low energy productive urban and rural
environments: domestic to broad-scale
€ holistic approach to sustainable landuse planning, conservation and
resource management
€ creative problem solving, participatory processes to facilitate positive
change
€ new insights into community building and bioregional sustainability
€ strategies for individual, enterprise and community response to peak oil,
climate change, globalisation, and challenges of the 21stC

TUTORS
The principal tutor, Robyn Francis, is recognised globally for her
exceptional work in permaculture education, design and community development
since 1983. An inspired and empowering communicator who walks her talk,
Robyn was a key contributor to the Accredited Permaculture Training and
continues at the cutting edge of sustainability education and innovative
vocational training.
Guest tutors for the PDC are drawn from the Bioregional Campus network of
local permaculture practitioners and specialists including Janelle Schafer,
Peter Hardwick and Carla Tipping.

Advanced Design Skills & F.L.O.W.
Jan 22-24 (plus Assessment Day Jan 25)
This post-PDC skills training includes information services, client
communications, drawing and drafting skills, design graphics and
presentation, reading & preparing maps and plans, client brief, report
writing, bills of quantity and implementation planning. This workshop
completes training requirements for specific units in Cert III & Cert IV of
the Accredited Permaculture Training (APT). The FLOW- Flexible Learning
Orientation Workshop - component introduces the APT qualifications and
requirements, and includes an APT-FLOW kit for ongoing self-directed
studies.
