Larry, my front yard is a nursery. He he. Ask Kevin. To get an idea of what I have on hand, browse over to http://www.hal-pc.org/~garden. I store about 92% in containers. The rest I heel in. Kevin and I frequently go collect trash bags of leaves as leaf mulch for our habitats. Since I have NO St. Augustine, I am into ground covers, swales, dry creeks, plant islands, rain gardens and shrub islands. I love grasses. We have so many to choose in Texas. View websites to see grasses images. I also love rain gardens. I use to observe public right-of-way ditches for submerged and marginal plants and put boots on go harvet some. There several power company right-of-ways near my home and I know their mowing schedule. Good prairie plants available for harvest. Also, good free native plants at our meetings. I also getting owners permission to take cuttings in late spring-early summer.

I just planted 2 blueberry plants. Doing quite well. I have grapes, plums, papaya, cherry, Satsuma "miho" and "okitsu", lemon, thornless lime,
pineapple (very easy to grow - just rip the top off, peel lower 1/3 leaves, let dry thoroughly for 1 week or so, plant in well drained soil and don't water much, give full sun and never let freeze. Should fruit in about 20 months. Can be forced with an apple in a bag with pineapple in a closet)
and a mango which sould bear fruit in about 3 years (they take about 8 years to fruit if not grafted)

I had my own landscape company for 2 1/2 years. For views of jobs completed, browse over to http://www.celestialhabitats.com.
I think I would enjoy owning a nursery. I get turned on potting a specimen and watching it grow. I also love to stock up on awesome native, habitat plants. I was VP of the Native Plant Society of Texas for a while and I am in love with native plants.

p.s. - I work at Home Depot. The manager was on vacation Mon - Thurs. I got certified on Thurs. This morning he come to me and says "Hey, whats this I hear about you being a plant professional". Told him I asked HR to check out finding me a department head slot and he said he needed to kick around fitting in a Plant Specialist Manager. Wow, that quick. The wasn't even dried on the certificate.
