Hello Everyone,

Growing your own food has so many benefits. John Jeavons has spent the last
33 years researching just how an ordinary person with limited resources can
provide for her/himself sustainably forever. Did you know you that you can
grow all you need for a healthy vegetarian diet in a fairly small space?
Come explore this work of Jeavons and a lively discussion afterwards at the
Red Rock Community Center on Saturday Jan. 14th, 2006 from 6:30-8:30pm.
Nancy Dennis,
who has been studying, practicing, and teaching will guide the evening.

There will also be a hands-on gardening class at the Red Rock elementary
school Feb. 4-11th. Call Marjory Glowka at 830 839 4077 for more
information.

Circle of Plenty:
Biointensive Agriculture Video & Talk

Saturday January 14, 2006 6:30 - 8:30 pm
At the Red Rock Community Center
114 Red Rock Rd. Red Rock, Texas 78662
(Light refreshments served after the talk)

Circle of Plenty Video
A look at John Jeavons and the Biointensive method for producing a lot of
food in a very small space. This 1987 special was created by John DeGraaf,
award-winning producer of PBS documentaries and has been frequently screened
nationally on public television.

John Jeavons and his co-workers at Ecology Action have spent the last 33
years doing pioneering research to improve the yield of home gardens. He
calls his technique Biointensive agriculture. His goal is to produce the
maximum amount of food from a small plot using the minimum amount of energy
inputs and water. The results have been spectacular and offer real hope for
solving at least part of the world hunger problem.

"Jeavons is...probably 10 to 15 years ahead of his time, but his time is
coming...My guess is that we're going to see a lot of public research spent
on things John Jeavons has been doing by himself."
Bob Bergland, former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.

After the video, Nancy Dennis will lead a discussion about the video and
talk further about Biointensive and the value of this tool for helping us
meet our own food needs locally and sustainably.

Bring the whole family! There will be supervised kids activities and snacks
provided outside. Bundle them up warmly.

Nancy Dennis is a long-time student of John Jeavons, starting with the 1992
workshop in Seattle, the first ever given outside of the Ecology Action site
in Willits, California. In 1995, at Jeavons' invitation, she attended the
first Seven-day Biointensive Teacher's workshop in Willits. She volunteers
as a "Dig-in" leader for Austin's Green Corn Project (putting in gardens for
Habitat for Humanity residents and others). She will be teaching a
Biointensive Gardening class at Red Rock Elementary School February 4 & 11.

Sponsored by the Red Rock Farmer's Co-Op. Call Marjory at 830 839 4077 for
more information.
