Toby-- Right you are. Poop power's never going to replace fossil fuels. The
idea is that here is a resource that's been tremendously under-utilized. We
can make a lot of useful things from it like clean soil amendments and
high-value fish and animal meal (after converting it through the gut of
earthworms or
black soldier fly larva).

The BBC article was in fact misleading. Manure does not convert 100% into
methane, as everyone should know. You have quite a bit of leftover substance
that
you have to render attractive and sanitary. This stuff does in fact have many
more potential uses than just making into humus, but I'd have to look into my
notes to find all the ways they're looking at right now.

Basically, the feedlot industry is looking into the low-cost, low-tech ways
of dealing with it. There's much fancier systems on the drawing board looking
for applications.

I think you get much better mileage with used cooking oil from the fast food
joints. Easy to clean and burn.
