This notice is an opportunity to travel to India in late September
and early October for organic farmer training, followed by a field
trip to hillside farms and villages in the Himalayas.
It is sponsored by Winrock International's Farmer-to-Farmer
Program, funded by USAID.
Farmers and Agricultural Specialists with experience
teaching workshops on organic farming technology are
invited to apply.

All travel expenses are arranged and paid for through FTF.

In turn, you volunteer your time and expertise.

The Organic Farmer Training is sponsored by UOCB
(Uttranchal Organic Commodity Board).
Uttranchal is one of the newly formed state in India, located
in the Central Himalayas. Dehra Dun and Nainital are the
two principal cities and regions that travel will revolve around. The entire state is terraced farming and mountainous agriculture.
Himalayan farms, valleys, and forests are spectacular. You
can gaze at the TransHimalayas in the distance!

Ms. Binita Shah, the principal source for Biodynamic Preparations
in Northern India, is the coordinator for UOCB.

National Foundation Training on Organic Farming for Senior Personnel
September 27 thru October 2nd, 2004 in Dehra Dun, India

Other teachers expected to teach at the Organic Farmer Training
include Peter Proctor from New Zealand and David Hogg from
Australia.

Total travel time will be 2-3 weeks, depending on your schedule.

The timeline for evaluating and arranging travel is short.
Please responds asap if you are interested.

The contact for recruitment at Winrock is DeAnn McGrew:

In addition, I have traveled to Uttaranchal to work with Benita
Shah and can provide travel tips and answer questions.
In addition, other Organic and Biodynamic trainings are
planned for later in 2004 and 2005.
The FTF program is geared to U.S. citizens, but they can
be living abroad, that is no problem.

Best regards,

Steve Diver
