Saturday 26th June at L.E.E.P - Langford Environmental Education Project
10am till 4pm

You are invited to join other people who are interested and involved
with permaculture on Saturday 26th June at LEEP. It is an opportunity
to see a permacuture project and to join workshops or share your skills
or project news.

*One of the aims of this convergence .........*
We used to meet up 2 or 3 times a year and the last one was at Bristol,
but somehow 2003 none were organised, so one of the aims of this
convergence is to get the ball rolling again and to organise the next 2
or 3 in different areas of the south west in the next year or so.......
projects/ individuals/groups interested in hosting a convergence can
contact me (Tess 01752 892676) if they will not be able to come to this
one, but would like to host a convergence in their area.

10am - 5pm Saturday plus volunteer work day on the Sunday for those
interested. Camping available in field next to the LEEP site.

Some Food will be available from the LEEP but do bring food to share

If you can't come, please let us know what is happening in your
area.....and what you are doing!

*For information about camping and the site. - phone Jane 01392 851361*

Please email back to me - Tess - if you are coming as I am co-ordinating
this convergence and will be hosting the event.

Please let other people know about this event!!! See you there

L.E.E.P. is located 3 miles north-west of Exeter City Centre.
The A377 Exeter to Crediton road passes Langford Road. Access to
L.E.E.P. is via Langford Road.

By Foot

* From Exeter follow A377 Crediton road- directions as for car.

By Bike

* No cycle path to LEEP...yet - directions as for car.

Hitching

* From M5 North, A30 West, A38 South make your way through city
centre towards A377 Crediton. You can hitch from Cowley Bridge
roundabout to Langford Road - then directions as for car.

Public Transport etc.

* From Exeter get Stagecoach bus number 50 from bus station
(half-hourly). Ask for Langford Road bus stop. Then walk.

* From St. David's Train Station get bus to bus station (frequent).
Then as above.

By Car, etc.

ยท From Exeter follow signs for Crediton A377. Look out for small
roundabout (Cowley Bridge) where road splits Crediton/Tiverton. Take
A377 Crediton over bridges and follow road for approx. one mile. Turn
right on to Langford Road (signposted Langford). Follow road for approx.
half a mile through Langford then look for LEEP car park on left through
gateway. Drive in, park, walk along footpath to LEEP site (signposted).

If you have to come by private motorised transport please let LEEP know,
as there is restricted parking, and there may be other people who could
share the journey with you.

By Air:

Exeter has an airport, but this mode of transport would require some
serious tree planting to offset your carbon emission contribution during
the flight!

The Land at L.E.E.P:

Langford Environmental Education Project is based on a one-hectare
field, which is part of a nine-acre organic smallholding. It was
established in 1999 by three local families to provide safe outdoor
space for children and special needs groups, and as a venue for training
and courses.

The field gently slopes and faces west, is bordered on two sides by
Jackmoor Brook, has a small woodland of oak, willow, alder, hazel and
other trees, a large wildlife pond, a smaller pond with a dipping
platform, a willow coppice, and lots of newly planted trees. The soil is
a heavy red clay and part of the site is flooded and very boggy in winter.

LEEP is regularly used by local children's groups, adult education
groups and for green woodworking. Volunteers meet regularly to develop
the site. The wooden shelter is used as an indoor teaching space and for
socialising at other times.

LEEP is a member of the Permaculture Association Network Project
Network, and will be celebrating its Official Opening on Sunday 15^th
August 2004 with music, storytelling, childrens activities, etc.

ACCESS - //L.E.E.P. is on a gentle slope and there is a rough public
footpath & gates to the site, it therefore might not be suitable for
those with serious physical challenges. While we promise to make every
effort to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend, our financial and
physical limitations mean that we would need to negotiate on an
individual basis as to how we can best serve those with additional
needs. People in need of assistance are welcome to bring an aide to help
them with the course. Assistants will only be asked to cover their food
costs.

/The Environment:/

L.E.E.P. is on a west-facing slope of the Creedy valley between Exeter
and Crediton; close to the village of Newton St. Cyres. It occupies a
one hectare field with ponds, willow coppice and small woodland, and is
adjacent to a brook and a public footpath. There are many lovely walks
in the surrounding area.
