I used glass wool in Grad school to grow liverworts in flasks set growth chambers with micronutrient media. The plants loved it but when handling the glass wool I had to use gloves and shove it into the erylmeyer (sp?) flask with a glass rod otherwise I could get cut. Cool for the plants not to good for people. We used it because it autclaved (sterilized at high wet temps) quite well without breaking up and it was reusable.

Hi there,
is glass fiber a dangerous medium where to grow vegetables?

I would think that fiberglass would be a danger to the gardener causing itchy skin, and a danger to lungs, if inhaled. I can't think of how it would hurt plants, maybe leafy vegetables would have fiberglass adhering to the leaves and then ingested.
