Hello Russ, thanks for these updates on the situation in Iraq, they offer a revealing perspective of the situation on the ground opposed to the bland coverage by other media organisations. I notice the reports are non-attributed, is this necessary to protect the source/sources?
The reports are not 'officially' circulated. They originate with a security training organisation that trains NGO and media personnel to operate in hostile environments. The organisation also accompanies some media personnel to look after them in the field and acts as field advisers.
If not, would it be possible to know how/where/by whom the information is collected and disseminated?
Australian media organisations use a local trainer. UK media use Centurion Security Services who also have a US branch. All field staff have military experience. The information also comes from quasi-military sources on the ground. Some from the military. We might term it 'open-source' intelligence.
