In the Dec 2002 National Geographic on a page prior to the first article,  there is a short note on the Stenocara beetle from Namibia.  Its bumpy back gathers moisture from fog, and the resulting water droplets are channeled into the beetle's mouth.  An Oxford biologist, Andrew Parker, and a physicist, Chris Lawrence have enlarged and duplicated the pattern to increase fog harvesting efficiency on tents and rooftops in arid areas.
