Mark, I deeply respect whatever you happen to find inspiring, and merely request that you offer me the same respect for what *I* find inspiring. If it works in creating healthy designs and systems, what matters it otherwise?
Isn't diversity one of the hallmarks of a healthy ecological system? :)

It is not the experience/belief I object to, it is the elevation of this stuff to an essential pillar of the design process, and to be fair that was not stated in a pushy manner in your post. It was quite a revelation to me how many good organic farmers are very strong Christians and do it all for Jesus. Many would certainly frame the experience of having the land "speak" as a whisper from Christ; a notion I also have no problem with per se. All I ask is that people keep in mind that the specifics of inspiration are not essential to design success.
