JOB ADVERTISEMENT

POSITION: Project Supervisor (Female), Women's Market Gardening Project

LOCATION: Northey Street City Farm, Windsor, Brisbane

CONDITIONS: Three days (24 hours) per week for 23 weeks, from 13th May
till 18th October 2002.

$518.40 per week, with pro rata leave and superannuation

APPLY BY: Friday 26th April '02

Northey Street City Farm has received funding from the state government
for a Community Jobs Plan (CJP) project to employ 14 unemployed people,
at least 12 of whom will be women, for 20 weeks. The project is due to
start on 13th May '02.

An experienced project supervisor is required to supervisor the CJP
trainees in the establishment of market gardens to grow organic
vegetables and fruit for sale at the Organic Farmers' market held every
Saturday morning adjacent to the Farm

Qualifications and Experience

a.. Experience in project supervision is essential.
b.. Qualifications in horticulture, agriculture or permaculture design
would be desirable.
c.. Relevant work experience in horticulture, agriculture or
permaculture design would be highly desirable:
d.. Past or current involvement in city farms, community gardens,
environmental groups or other similar community organisations would be
highly desirable.
e.. Experience in marketing or small business would be an advantage.

Selection Criteria

a.. Demonstrated ability to lead a team of workers.
b.. Relevant experience and qualifications for the position.
c.. Demonstrated commitment to the philosophies and practice of organic
horticulture and/or permaculture.
d.. Ability to work and liaise with a broad range of individuals and
groups.
