g'day claude,
for a start what i know of it is it is very toxic and when it appears in freshwater catchments or bayside beaches the areas are closed and no fishing or taking of sea food is allowed.
i got some on my feet once and got a rash and the skin peeled off.
i live in south east queensland australia but i think you should check with you local water resources people or health department before you mess with that stuff.
