In broadacre agriculture (in Australia) this is being widely promoted and
practiced.
There are some organic broadacre farmers using steam to kill off the
weeds prior to planting for minimum tillage grain cropping.
Fukuoka-style no-tillage systems would be difficult (impossible?) to
practice with the nature of weeds in many farming areas.
