Re applying linseed - there's been interesting suggestions but it sounds
messy and a lot of work & wasted linseed to dunk canvass in containers
etc. The simplest way to apply the mix would be to paint it on with a big
paint brush. Do both sides to make sure. Linseed oil isn't cheap.
Linseed oil takes quite a while to dry - for soaking into earthbricks for
weatherproofing & hardening it's usually mixed with a small amount of
terpentine (solvent/thinner) and terrabine (drying/hardening agent).
