Interesting, because common usage here in the midwestern U.S. is indeed that
pesticides are used against fellow members of the animal kingdom. And
insecticides, it seems, are thought of as for household use, not in
gardens/fields.
The English language, which now divides most of the world, and no longer just
the US and England:)
