Hi
I'm sure that Max will be able to help at BLACKWOOD SEEDS 117 MURRAY
DRV MURRAY BRIDGE South Aust 5253 .. (08) 8532-6483
I wonder if there aren't indigenous spp which would do the job as well
or better. Depending on the rainfall other options may be Gleditsia
tricanthos (Honey Locust)for which I could supply seed selected in SA
(useful if you want something frost tolerant and deciduous). Ceratonia
siliqua (carob bean) which is commonly grown in Spain is another semi
dryland tree worth thinking about...see our info page at
http://www.adelaide.net.au/~brookman/carobBeans.htm
Juan Tous Marti is one of the top carob people in the world and is based
at theinstitute for horticulture in Spain.. Tarragona?
If you're in a slightly higher rainfall area or on sandy soil Tagasaste
may be a contender...it was from the Canary islands..not so far from
Spain
Essential reading for tree croppers is 'Tree Crops' by Smith
Permaculture Plants by Nugent is also excellent
