Reply to Franks Farm

Re: Franks Farm Post:
"Hi All,
I too would like to start just such a project on my farm in south
central
Kentucky . It's over 450 acres with 330 acres of mixed age hardwood forest
with ridges that slope down to bottom lands, and broad creek.
I've been on the list a while hoping to learn as much as I can. I'm
reading
Mollison's Permaculture Designer's manual...which is most helpful but I have
so many questions.
I'd be interested in working with expert permaculture designer's but
unfortunately don;t have much spare cash(BG).
My heart is in the right place...but it seems lots of expertise is
needed.
Heck just trying to recycle water on property that runs down from those ridges
demands a lot more expertise, and perhaps capital than is available.
I'd appreciate your comments, and thoughts. Frank"

Frank- You have some choices
1) host a design ³charette² - you pay travel & supply meals expenses for
up
to 10 designers to come for a weekend & do a collaberative design - If all
are
from nearby, it might only be gas $ & food
2) host a Pc Design Course (PDC), usually about 2 weeks or a practicum
(=
1/2 a PDC certificate with a main Pc project which would be to create a
design
for your property), an 8 days course [Either would be a lot of work but
rewarding]
3) Figure out how to put a 3 dimensional picture of your property
online &
get feedback from the list service - Now there¹s a challenge! ...............
OR do
the same on paper & mail it out - a challenge & lots of work
4) Contact nearby Pc folks & get them to come visit - see below:
5) Take a design course - barter with food or services for some of the
expenses - The Ecovillage at The Farm in Summertown may offer a Pc course
next spring......
6) There are more...

We sent Frank names of Pc folks from KY & TN and the website address for
EPTA

Best of Luck... John Irwin
