Permaculture West Presents:
DESIGNING THE HOME ECOSYSTEM
Using Natural Principles for Designing Your Home, Garden, &
Community.
July 11th & 12th
Olympia, WA
Instructed by: Larry Santoyo
This weekend workshop will introduce participants to the art & science
of
environmental design. Participants will be lead through an ecological
design process that will assist them in designing their homes and gardens
to be more energy conserving, lower maintenance, and naturally elegant.
Through lecture, video, discussion, and site tours we will examine some of
the most inspiring examples of environmental design from around the world
and understand how these examples relate to our climate and community.
Strong consideration will be given to landscape architecture and how to
create artistic elements from tree prunings, found items, and other
low-cost resources.
Some workshop topics:
Site analysis & mapping ~ ecology ~ conserving water in the home &
landscape ~ organic architecture ~ hedgerows, windbreaks, & privacy screens
~ simplified civil engineering ~ housing design & energy conservation ~
edible landscaping ~ ponds & water catchment ~ greywater systems ~ cottage
industries ~ handcrafted trellises ~ wildlife preservation ~ permaculture
design ~ and much more!
Location:
This weekend workshop will be uniquely located between two urban sites
in
Olympia where an attention for natural design has lent itself towards
landscapes of elegance and abundance. These sites will provide examples of
edible landscaping, organic architecture, urban forests & wetlands,
hedgerows, wildlife habitat, cottage industries, trellising, composting,
sheet mulching, terracing, and many other interesting elements.
