Those managing pests in America are approaching a crossroads. Beyond it, the familiar path leads to greater reliance on pesticides, more serious pesticide hazards and slipping efficacy. A growing number of pest management innovators are progressing along another path that leads to biointensive IPM. The challenge for policy - and leaders in the public and private sectors - is to help pest managers recognize when they approach the crossroads, inform them of their options and reward those that do the right thing.
