Okay, I agree that we don't need this topic to cope with the
dogdays while we await a hurricane to blow away the heat and
southern Louisiana, but, if I may presume to speak for WP,
he might have demurred to Julio by reminding us all that in
1973 (?) he wrote a portrait of America split between
ranting knotheads and bumbling liberals that was on the
brink of collapse and civil war. Welcome to Love in the
Ruins.
